Volunteer Training for the MS Challenge Walk

Intersection Safety is Serious Work

The MS Society staff usually conducts one or more training sessions for all of the route safety volunteers, including the motorcycle escorts. The main training session focuses on route safety, and is normally held a week or two prior to the event. The MS Society will mail an invitation to all of the volunteers, and we'll post the information from that invitation here just to make sure everyone has access to it.

The route safety training costs nothing, and all route safety volunteers are urged to attend. The subjects covered will include route information, communication methods, accident reporting, and many others. Since the MS Society must be certain that each motorcycle escort is properly licensed and insured, please bring your driver's license and proof of insurance to this training session.

The MS Society is sometimes able to obtain training in First Aid, Intersection Safety, and other helpful topics. Some of these sessions may be offered at no cost, some may incur a small fee. First Aid and CPR classes are now available, and invitations were recently mailed to the appropriate volunteers. Motorcycle escorts are strongly encouraged to take advantage of this training if you don't already have your First Aid or CPR certification. Here's a link to the training invitation in case your's has been lost or delayed.
