Fifty Miles in Three Days!
The MS Challenge Walk is a three-day walking tour that will be held on Friday, September 23, through Sunday, September 25, 2011. Several hundred walkers will start their 50-mile challenge in Mound, MN, spend the day hiking around Minneapolis' gorgeous lakes, and enjoy dinner and "camping" at the Sabes Jewish Community Center. The challenge will continue on Saturday, bringing the walkers from Minneapolis to St. Paul where they will spend the night at Roseville High School. The final, and shortest leg of the challenge will bring the walkers to the finish at Boom Island Park in Minneapolis. This will be the tenth MS Challenge Walk, and for additional details, here is a direct link to the MS Society's MS Challenge Walk Web site.
The tour will provide the walkers with a fully marked and supported route, with pit stops and rest stops at about two mile intervals. Rest stops will serve water, energy drinks, fruit, and snacks, and safety volunteers will keep the route as safe as possible. We'd like to have about six motorcycle escorts on this event, and it's preferable to find volunteers who can commit to serving for one or more full days of the long weekend.
